Object | Common Projects - Waxed Canvas Bag

School has started once again, and I found myself without a good bag to carry my stuff (mostly Dostojevskij-books - just kiddding) around in on a day-to-day basis. So I've been on the look-out for a nice bag lately, preferably a leather messenger one that will age nicely.

I didn't find a messenger bag. I did, however, find this bag from Common Projects. While mostly known for their minimalistic sneakers, Common Projects have recently been expanding their label with sunglasses, wallets and bags that follows the same aesthetic as the sneakers. This bag is just another example of their devotion to quality.

Made in a durable waxed canvas with leather handles and an adjustable shoulder-strap for when your arms grow tired. The inside features two pockets and a detachable leather sleeve.

When I saw it I forgot all about messenger bags. I needed to get it, so I did. And it has served me well ever since. It's the perfect size, copes well with rain etc. Trust me, the pictures doesn't do this one justice. You need to see it in person, feel it and try it out. And when you do, you will be just as hooked as I am.

The Style Is Right | Blackbird Hunting

We're back with one of my favorite features of this venture - the section called "The Style Is Right", where we showcase the best styling efforts from around the world. And yeah, we're still working on that name..

Remember the quilted Band of Outsiders we showed you a few weeks ago? If not, scroll down two posts or so and refresh your memory. Anyways, we discussed the various options you had when it came to pairing it with other pieces. Unfortunately, since South Willard doesn't really do outfits we couldn't show you any examples. But Blackbird has come to our rescue and as usual their styling is impeccable.

They've paired the jacket with a matching shirt, a pair of herringbone pants plus matching vest, a pair of rugged patined boots and a chambray bandana jauntily tied around the neck.

What I really like about this outfit is how it combines the more dressed up elements (the pants and the west) with the outdoorsy ones (the overshirt and the boots) and the colour/pattern matching of the shirt and jacket provides the perfect final touch. (Be sure to click on the picture when you're done reading to fully appreciate what I'm talking about .) The only thing I'm skeptical might be the bandana. But you could probably just as easily trade it for a scarf or a tie.

All in all, it's a well put-together look that would look good on most guys wether you're a lumberjack or a banker. In other words this, my friends, is how it should be done.

External | The Upgrader - Fall Essentials

MenStyle's The Upgrader recently posted their guide to this season's Fall Essentials. Some seems to think these guides can be a bit out of touch and don't offer much of use but I personally like them, if nothing else for inspiration.

Though hardly all of the items featured can be considered essentials, something they admit themselves (see caption in the picture), I enjoyed the selction. Especially the turtleneck, the leather biker jacket and the fair isle sweater which are all on my to buy-list this fall. I did however feel that a couple of items lacked from the list though, so maybe I'll write one myself soon. Until then check this one out and start planning for the colder months ahead. And feel free to weigh in on your own fall essentials.

Object | Shades Of Greige - Pacific Jacket

I don't know about your part of the world, but around here it's been nothing but rain the last couple of days. I've spent my time indoors, looking through my fall wardrobe and avoiding to go outside as much as possible. But you can't hide from the world forever, sooner or later you have to face the rain. And when you do you'll wan't something that can keep you dry, without too much fuss.

Enter the pacific jacket from Shades of Greige. It's affordable, lightweight and provides a welcome splash of color as the skys turning greyer. The detailing is sparse but spot on with a funnel neck, hidden snab closure and the detail that wins me over; rope drawstrings which gives the jacket a nautical vibe.
