Object | Alexis Mabille - Butterfly Brooche

Browsing the site I discovered some more areas we've been neglecting; bags and accesories. Sorry about that, we'll do our best to correct our negligence.

Starting off with accesories, this is always a tricky business. Someone (too tired to remember who it was, too lazy to look it up) once said that the only accesory a man should ever wear is a watch. That seems a bit harsh to me. Sure you should never over-complicate your outfit but the right accesory can add just that right amount of spice needed. Besides there are always belts and ties, the safe ways beside the wristwatch, to accesorize with.

But today we're playing it a bit less safe, with this butterfly brooche from the french designer Alexis Mabille, available at Studio Homme. Mabille has an impressive resume from the world of fashion, and we'll get back to that later. For now, let's just say he knows the ropes and this velvet-y little brooche made is proof of that.

Also available in green or purple, it measures in at nine cm (almost 4 inches). This is not the most discreet of accesories, not like a lapel pin. No, this is definitely not for the modest but done right and worn boldly it would lift any outfit, from the beach appropriate to the black tie evening wear. Still, it's pretty pricey despite being on sale but there's no way around the fact that it looks oh-so-good. And if you happen to buy it, I can guarantee you two things: You'll be pretty unique in owning it, and you will get appreciative comments on it. If nothing else it's a sure coversation-starter.
