Object | Nigel Cabourn - Shawl Collar Knit

One of my biggest regrets this summer (fashion-wise, that is) is not buying Our Legacy's shawl collared pull-over. The fit was great, as was the collar. I tried it on at the beginning of the season but figured I could hold on pulling the trigger for a while. Then summer came, and it turned out to be crazy-busy. I flung around from one place to another, doing all sorts of stuff. Long story short, I missed out and have reproached myself for it every day since.

This one might not be just as perfect in my taste, but it does the trick. As usual Nigel Cabourn brings us nothing but quality products, with inspiration from actual pieces dating back to the mid- to early 20th century. Those were the days, huh?

Available exclusively in Europe through Oki-Ni it comes in a dark navy hue that's very fall appropriate and features several reinforcing patches on the shoulders and arms - the shoulder ones were originally meant to keep rifles from wearing through the material. So you could, you know go hunting with this one if you'd like to, but seeing as this is 100% wool you'd probably have to dry-clean it afterwards. Happy hunting!

External | Welcome To The Age Of The Anti-Label

On account of the launch of J+, Jil Sander's stint for Uniqlo, The Imagist discusses the idea of the "anti-label". It's a very interesting concept, and to be honest it sounds like something I'd really welcome and maybe a much-needed antidote to this fast-spinning carousel we call fashion. Read it here, then read it again.

Object | Comme des Garçons SHIRT - Padded Classic Nylon Duffle Coat

The hunt for a fall coat goes on. It's probably one of my favorite parts of fall shopping, to go searching for that perfect jacket to take you through the colder months. It also seems like it's one of the most important pieces to focus on since it's likely to be what people see you in most of the time. You need something that goes great with the rest of your wardrobe, so it has to be versatile, yet it should also be interesting enough to get a few glances on it's own. Here's todays suggestion for that piece.

Comme des Garçons SHIRT's duffle coat is labeled as "classic" but though the duffle coat is probably one of the most classic options for fall, a padded one is far from conventional and so is the choice of nylon. Not that we're complaining. This is what CDG does best; giving a playful twist to the classics, reinventing and adding just the right amount of popping colour.

The two critical points when it comes to duffle coats (except for the usual ones, fit etc.) is the pockets and the toggles. They make or break the piece. On this one I've got no complaints. The flap pockets are discreet and the black toggles and jute fastening go perfectly with the navy color. The coat is fully lined so it will probably take you through the whole winter, unless you live in Siberia. If the fit is right, this just might be the one for me.

Style | The Nylon Backpack

I've tried to steer clear of any backpacks ever since I finally managed to convince my mom that all the cool kids wore messenger bags. I really don't know why I'm so skeptic to them. Maybe I associate them with those painfully optimistic outdoorsy types that gives you blisters just by existing. Maybe I've just have bad experiences with them. Either way, as I said I've avoided them for a long time and I swore when Raf Simons or whoever it was started showing them on the runway a couple of seasons ago that this was one thing (along with clogs & fannypacks) I was not gonna get caught up in.

But a lot has happened since then and here I am now actually considering giving up my messenger bags and tote bags and crawl back to the practical backpack. Maybe surprisingly, but the best options doesn't come in leather or canvas but rather in Prada's signature fabric, nylon. Some might think I've lost my mind (or at least my sense of style) for even considering this but in my defense there actually are a couple of nice alternatives out there these days (no I'm not talking about the Eastpack collaborations, sorry mr. Simons & mr. Owens). And they're more ergonomic than other kind of bags, which means they're better for your back. Just ask your mom.

Object | Junya Watanabe - Quilted Nylon Jackets

Among all the trends, I predict that the "quilted shirts that also functions as outerwear"-one will become the really big one. At least it's my favorite one. We featured a plaid one by Band Of Outsiders earlier on and Opening Ceremony did a really nice one in grey.

But the absolute example of this trend however, must be this one from Junya Watanabe, available at Browns. Made in a shiny black nylon it has all the quirky trademarks of a piece from the japanese designer, yet it's still a very wearable garment that would probably fit right in in most wardrobes. It has two breast pockets, and nice touches like the corduroy collar and the tartan detailing at the sleeves and shoulders. It isn't exactly cheap, but then again who said it would be.

Object | N.D.C. - Sunday Boot

Well, it's sunday. The week has ended. And since we've featured a lot of shoes on here this past week, I figured what could be more appropriate than to end the week with a pair of shoes? But not any shoes. No, this is the sunday boot from N.D.C. (See what I did there? Shoes? Sunday? Sunday Boot? Called a smooth transition, kids. Watch and learn. Watch and learn..)

Back to the shoes at hand (or foot, hahaha. Hah. Excuse me, I'm tired). Anyway, it's an ankle boot made in a gorgeous khaki green shade of suede with a wooden heel. As always with N.D.C. this is a quality piece. What else do you expect from a brand that actually has "made by hand" incorporated as a part of the brand name? Okay, I'll quit rambling and just sum it up with these words; If you're looking for a shoe for the fall you can do a lot worse than these. Thank you for your attention, I'll get back to bed now.

External | The Moment - Feeling For... Flannel Grey Suit

A movie cliché from the old days. The very symbol of the mindless corporate drone. Some would feel awkward and out of place in a grey flannel suit. But Bruce Pask of The Moment, a self-proclaimed "worn-in jeans and sports jacket"-guy argues that you can feel just as comfortable in one as you would in your normal attire. Besides, who wouldn't want to look a bit more like Gregory Peck? Read it here.

Object | Ronnie Fieg x Red Wing - 877 8” Boot

Red Wing, the classic americana footwear brand, has been getting a lot of love in the last year or so, both from bloggers and from high-fashion stores around the world. They've done a few collaborations, and have been seen on the feet of practically everybody. To be honest I'm kind of sick of them by now.

But today they get yet another breath of fresh air in the form of another collab, this time with Ronnie Fieg of the New York store David Z. I don't have a lot else to say about these, sorry. A sturdy pair of good-looking boots. You all know the deal by now.

If you want a pair you better jump on it. They release today at 10am exclusively at David Z. Available in grey and the classic Oro Russet, they're limited to 120 pair each and retail at $290

Object | Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony X Bass - Penny Loafer

Though my man E hates everything collab, I mostly find it refreshing when creative minds come together to create something fresh. Sure, the results can sometimes be a bit... out there but you can't get it right every time.

This collaboration however, is spot on. Chloe Sevigny has redesigned these classic Bass penny loafer exclusively for Opening Ceremony and has given them new life thanks to the refreshing colorways. Instead of the usual one-colored leather tone, these come in contrasting black and white leathers. They kind of remind me of a pair from Mr. Hare's lauded debut collection. Either way these are dope. Never mind that the season for these babies might be just ending, I'll wear them anyway.

Object | Dries Van Noten - Desert Bag

Some things are more exciting to buy than others. Shoes, bags and accesories are always easy ways to give your wardrobe that much-needed injection. Lately a number of good offerings has caught my eye so I'd thought I'd share them with you.

First out is this desert bag from the belgian designer Dries Van Noten. A bit on the expensive side maybe, but we all have to indulge ourselves every once in a while, don't we? The pictures, as usual, don't really do this one justice so if you have the opportunity I suggest you check it out in person. For those of you who don't have that opportunity I can tell you a few things about it. It's a duffle/weekend bag (who can tell the difference anymore?) in a beautiful, beat-up looking sand colored canvas with brown leather handles and detailing. The shoulder strap is removable. Another interesting detail on this one is the flap that runs straight across the bag. Très Bien got it, if you like me have a thing for impulsive buying.
