Pierre Hardy has long been a favorite of mine and his sneakers have become somewhat of a classic in fashion circles. Though I'm not generally a huge sneakers fan I find myself wanting more or less every one of his models.
Opening Ceremony's desert boots are a classic fashion staple by now, that comes in slightly different versions each season and most of you are probably familiar with them by now. This season they've updated it with a white rubber sole that contrasts nicely with the suede. (Buy)
Another label making a reappearance on our Christmas calendar. This time it's the debuting Mr. Hare who, dare we say it, has made the ultimate black tie shoe, "Fitzgerald".
Apart from the beautiful, perfectly rounded silhouette, what sets this one apart from the rest of the pack is that it's made in three different materials; the toe is shiny patent leather, the middle section of suede, which cleverly helps preventing the creases that usually appears on leather dress shoes over time. Lastly the upper portion is made in of white leather, proving why black and white is the most classic of pairings. If you don't feel like making quite such a large statement (though there's no reason you shouldn't) the Fitzgerald is however also available in a more discrete all-black.
As I was looking through the site, thinking about what pieces I should feature in this calendar, I realized that we'd missed something. Something very important. Except for a reference to an article on Selectism, we'd completely neglected to mention Mr. Hare, which possibly is our favorite footwear label. Serious slip-up, so I thought I'd try and repair my misstake.
Featured in the debut collection "Purest Form" are these boots, called "Thompson" after the famous American author. They're button-up, something you usually don't see when it comes to boots. They're made from Italian calf leather on a Blake last and the leather soles are reinforced with nails and rubber insets. As for looks you could try and come up with enough superlatives to describe it but Mr. Hare did a pretty good job summing them up himself: "The Thompson is angular and suave."

Remember that military look we talked about a couple of days ago? If you want to be real serious about it you have to complete the look with a pair of lace-up boots. No other kind of footwear will do. Fortunately we've got you covered here as well.
Lanvin might be as far from the army as you can get but that doesn't mean they can't make a pair of pretty mean looking boots. Just the right height, these leather boots with wool insets will make you look tougher than Rambo in no time. It's all in the lacing.

I did a lot of searching this season after the perfect pair of winter boots. I looked everywhere. Until I found these. Then there was no need to search any further. I can honestly say that these are my perfect day-to-day winter boots. Unless you spend your time with snow up to your chest; in that case you should probably go with something else. But if you're not, then there's no excuses.
I've always been fond of the jodphur-style of boots. Something about the buckles and the wrap around straps makes it look so much more refined than an ordinary boot. And these in black leather with a rubber crepe sole is as good as it gets. They're also available in chestnut brown but I prefer the black version.
A pair of sturdy boots should be on every man's list of essentials for the winter. They come in all different shapes and colors, and can be worn with practically anything. And most importantly they keep your feet warm and dry.
One of my favorite pairs this season, the "Burnside" comes from none other than the queen of men's footwear Rachel Comey. Just as Gargyle puts it, these balance ruggedness with style and they do so excellently. I really like the way the layered rubber and leather sole and the brass loops compliments the black leather and the ankle strap is another playful twist that also adds to the look of this one. And if the tassels aren't your cup of tea, don't worry, they're removable.
Well, it's sunday. The week has ended. And since we've featured a lot of shoes on here this past week, I figured what could be more appropriate than to end the week with a pair of shoes? But not any shoes. No, this is the sunday boot from N.D.C. (See what I did there? Shoes? Sunday? Sunday Boot? Called a smooth transition, kids. Watch and learn. Watch and learn..)Back to the shoes at hand (or foot, hahaha. Hah. Excuse me, I'm tired). Anyway, it's an ankle boot made in a gorgeous khaki green shade of suede with a wooden heel. As always with N.D.C. this is a quality piece. What else do you expect from a brand that actually has "made by hand" incorporated as a part of the brand name? Okay, I'll quit rambling and just sum it up with these words; If you're looking for a shoe for the fall you can do a lot worse than these. Thank you for your attention, I'll get back to bed now.
Red Wing, the classic americana footwear brand, has been getting a lot of love in the last year or so, both from bloggers and from high-fashion stores around the world. They've done a few collaborations, and have been seen on the feet of practically everybody. To be honest I'm kind of sick of them by now.
But today they get yet another breath of fresh air in the form of another collab, this time with Ronnie Fieg of the New York store David Z. I don't have a lot else to say about these, sorry. A sturdy pair of good-looking boots. You all know the deal by now.

Though my man E hates everything collab, I mostly find it refreshing when creative minds come together to create something fresh. Sure, the results can sometimes be a bit... out there but you can't get it right every time.
This collaboration however, is spot on. Chloe Sevigny has redesigned these classic Bass penny loafer exclusively for Opening Ceremony and has given them new life thanks to the refreshing colorways. Instead of the usual one-colored leather tone, these come in contrasting black and white leathers. They kind of remind me of a pair from Mr. Hare's lauded debut collection. Either way these are dope. Never mind that the season for these babies might be just ending, I'll wear them anyway.
Okay, on topic. I caught sight of these bluchers from Quoddy for South Willard the other day and as you might expect, they're really nice. We've already done the brown suede version of these before but I figured the black leather option was reason enough to give them another go. Personally I prefer the suede version and like the non-brick sole version of the black leather blucher better but if you're into brick soles at the moment, and I wouldn't blame you, then this is kind of ideal I guess.
Both the boat shoe and the classic white sneaker has gotten their due attention this season, and even the loafer is brought forward by some as the summer shoe. Sadly, the deck shoe hasn't got nearly the same attention. Luckily, we're here to correct that misstake.
The boat shoe is without a doubt one of the most popular style for the summer. To realize that you just need to look at the fact that every brand possible seems to have their own version nowadays. But in my book there's a reason that a classic style is classic and therefore I like to stick with a version that stays more or less true to the original.
I usually switch from season to season, this summer I'll probably roll with the loafer. The traditional loafer might seem a bit too dressy for some so I thought I'd give you a bit more casual alternative, as an introduction or something.
Loved by some, and hated by probably just as many, the Wallabee is a shoe that doesn't leave anybody neutral. Created in 1965 by Lance Clark, these have since become a staple embraced by people ranging from prepsters to the Wu-Tang Clan.
I don't know if it's because it's in suede rather than leather like most or what it is but it got that special something. With a red brick sole and white handsewn contrast-stitchingen this blucher is truly a piece of art and the perfect shoe for the coming summer.
